Hi.

Welcome to my blog where I share the gems I've learned along the way. Sharing is caring, my friends... and I didn't go through all these struggles for nothin', y'all!  I hope to offer you hope, encouragement, and a laugh or two along the way!

Pooptastrophe of 2013

Pooptastrophe of 2013

The poop story as promised....

So, during the last couple of weeks of the year, Parker has been on break from school and therefore playing Mr. Mom during the time I'm at work.  He is a great Dad and his boys both adore him, but let's just say he is not the type to be tempted to make this his new day job.  I would check in with him each day and make sure he was holding up alright... he was always great.  But, to wrap up 2013 with a bang, the kids wanted to ensure that he understood the challenge of balancing the needs of more than one child.  Grey has started calling for "Help!" from his bed when put down for naps and bedtime.  He cries out "Mom... HELP!"  "Dad... HELP!" and we go in each time and reiterate it is time for "night night" and leave him to put himself to sleep.  It usually only takes a couple of stops in and he is out for the count.  However, this particular day he was very persistent.  After stop in #4, Parker decided he would let him cry it out a bit... afterall, this was getting ridiculous.  Knox had been asleep a bit already and he just needed a moment to himself.  But, when Grey kept crying out, he figured he better go in and check on him... he found him this time, completely naked, poopy diaper ripped off and thrown out of his bed, pee everywhere, poop everywhere...Grey had gone primate. Parker quickly stripped the bed, started laundry, and whisked Grey to the bath just in time for Knox to wake up... to keep both boys entertained Knox joined bath time and Parker realized he had to get out of the house.  He put clean clothes on both boys, bundled them and strapped them into their car seats... he turned the key.... battery was dead!  So, choosing to make the best of it, he got the boys out of the car and let the dogs out for some fun in the yard with the hounds... He looks over and Grey is happily sliding down a small hill in the front yard saying "Weeeeeee"... he thinks nothing of it at first, but then realizes the spot he is sliding in, is exactly where the dogs tend to "do their business"!!!  Sure enough... Grey's shoes and pants are no covered in dog poop! So, it was back to the bath and laundry duties again.... this story is the first in our child addition of "why is there poop everywhere!?"  been there, done that with our dogs... now its their turn?  It was a  Christmas miracle that no children or animals were harmed in the making of the poop story....lol

Looking back...  I don't think we could have squeezed anymore into 2013. We grew, we laughed, we cried, we celebrated, we cried some more, we gave thanks, we survived!  I'm so thankful for what we experienced in 2013 and really look forward to settling into a new home and routine in 2014.  So, I suppose now I'm really looking forward...
